Intouch can now demonstrate the most advanced Patient Check-In system in the UK making best use of self-service technology.

Using touch screen technology to improve services, information access and productivity

CHALLENGE
To ensure service users have maximum access to Trust Websites, Health Information, and Education Systems around the clock, 365 Days a year using touch screen Kiosk Technology.

SOLUTION
Having ascertained the specific requirements for each Trust, Intouch with Health supplied touch screen web activated kiosks across a variety of sites ensuring 24/7 – 365 access.  Kiosk designs include freestanding units, desk, table or wall mounted varieties together with printing or audio facilities.  Kiosks can be configured to read bar codes if required, for example to aid the dispensing of personalised Information Prescriptions. Kiosks are DDA compliant and wheelchair accessible models are available.

South Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust (SEPT)

The diversity of service users meant that in SEPT we placed 47 kiosks in sites ranging from forensic units to reception areas. Where required, heavy duty kiosks with integral printers were sited, which can withstand robust use. Lighter, more visually attractive Kiosks were placed in reception areas. Consideration was given to user needs and so, in appropriate areas wheelchair access, printer and audio facilities were incorporated. All 4 Trust websites and supporting interactive Intouch with Health education and research systems are available on all of the kiosks across the Trust. Kiosks have seen high levels of use and patient satisfaction, and remain a key element of the Trust’s communication strategy going forward.

Birmingham Health Exchange

Within the Birmingham Health Exchange (BHE) area, Kiosks were placed in 17 locations including community sites and the Central Library. Users can access the Client’s website service complemented by Intouch with Health’s Public Health Information Service comprising thousands of fact sheets on general health information. Also accessible is “Sounds Healthy” Intouch with Health’s collection of translated health information in a range of languages both in text and in audio form. Kiosk usage levels have been encouraging and the network of kiosks is now to be extended to 69 pharmacies in the Heart of Birmingham.
