“Going Strong” falls prevention education software
This package, which is available online or as stand-alone DVD, is also designed for touch screen kiosk use. It contains a wealth of falls prevention information, including the causes of falls and how to prevent them. It is designed for direct use by older citizens and is positioned as helping them maintain strength and balance as they get older.
Text, animations and interactive games help users to understand how eyesight problems, dietary issues, hazards in the home and other factors can all bring about a fall. They are then shown many falls avoidance steps which can be taken. There is a section for local falls prevention information which can be edited by the client organisation if they wish.Sufficiently comprehensive to be a staff training aid
As well as being for direct public use, this programme can be used by health and social care professionals during their consultations – for example to demonstrate exercise routines and to print off advice sheets. The content is so comprehensive that the package can be used as a training aid for staff and volunteers who work with older people.Latest News
